Networks of Networks
Enterprise for Economic Excellence. This is a perfect example of networks of commercial, governmental and educational institutions cooperating towards common prosperity, in San Bernardino, California. How did they do it? Take a look at their very informative White Paper.
Essential-Org, a web-host to a great many environmental, student association, and grass-roots-political organizations' home-pages.
A great many of the modern Networks of Networks seem to have evolved from networked electronic Bulletin Board Systems (BBSes) and a great many of these have always had certain special-interest political overtones. Some have evolved from disability-oriented BBSes, or perhaps computer-geek BBSes, or political-party or splinter-group BBSes. Now, with the Internet at last reaching some of the more remote parts of the globe, many of these BBSes which were once connected by FIDO or other dial-in-once-a-day modes are coming online and establishing quite a web presence. I'll be scouting around and looking for as many as I can find, since after all Earth Operations Central has one definite mission above all others, and that is to get as many diverse groups and interests associated onto related pages, if only to save people the trouble of typing in Altavista queries. Sure, search engines are wonderful for this sort of thing, but they're not quite as intelligent as moi, to roughly paraphrase and update Yogi Berra.
